We are delighted to announce a unique Career Guidance event to be hosted by Rye Street Group at their Bishops Stortford Accident Repair Centre on the 24th February 2016.
This specific event is part of their REALexperience initiative, which aims to help young people understand their options in terms of life after education, career options and to provide practical experiences that will help them decide where they want their careers to start when they leave education.
The 24 February event is co-produced by REAL and AutoRaise, the only government-recognised apprenticeship standard in the vehicle repair industry. It is being hosted by Rye Street Group at their Bishops Stortford Repair Centre. As one of the UK’s leading independent vehicle repair groups, Rye Street Group is a major local employer and training provider at six sites spread around our region.
The accident repair industry both nationally and locally is suffering from a severe skills shortage, and a number of organisations have come together to create change on a significant scale. Locally, Rye Street Group will be seeking to award guaranteed apprenticeships to selected local students that will enable them to make their first career move out of education.
The event is really targeted at students in Years 9 to 11, either with an interest in working within the automotive sector, or with a more general interest in apprenticeships and how they work within a local company. The event will also showcase commercial and administrative functions within the company, which also offer challenging progression opportunities for students. The event is also being supported by major motor manufacturers, some of which will be represented at the event. The event will be very ‘hands on’ and is very much intended to be both enjoyable and informative for students and their parents.
We are hoping to create a very rewarding experience for 14 – 16 year olds in our wider area. More information can be found by visiting the AutoRaise website: www.autoraise.org/events
Students are required to pre-register on the AutoRaise website as we expect a high demand and want to ensure that all attendees get the maximum possible benefit from the experience.
Rye Street Group, who has avidly supported the charity for all of its three year existence, is delighted to have been chosen as the host for the inaugural REALexperience Industry Showcase event. Bill Duffy, Rye Street Group Managing Director and an original AutoRaise steering group member comments, “We are extremely proud to be hosting this inaugural event and as well as hopefully capturing some young talent for the future, we are going to be inviting our business partners, various industry stakeholders and other repairers to join us at the event and hopefully stimulate some interest for their own organisations to support AutoRaise and REAL in this exciting initiative”.
The REALexperience/AutoRaise evening will be held between 5.00 pm and 8.00 pm, and will be showcasing the vehicle repair industry in all its glory! As well as live demonstrations of vehicles being repaired by Rye Street Group technicians, many of the group’s suppliers and product manufacturer partners will be present with their own area to demonstrate products and services.
