A great day for the charity at Saffron Snooker Club

Saffron Snooker Club

We are delighted to report on a brilliant day held at Saffron Snooker Club last Sunday where nearly £500 was raised for the charity.

For the second year running, Kevin Starr, a very dear family friend to the Linwood’s, sponsored the event. And once again, he organised for Martin O’Donnell and Allan Taylor to be available as the pro’s to beat!

The charity would like to thank both Martin and Allan for not only giving up their valuable time but also for their dedication to helping the charity on the day. As the family, we spent a few hours in their company after the event had finished and they are genuinely nice guys who are committed to help our charity whenever and however they can.

Martin and Allan were kept busy all day and played frame after frame against club regulars and visitors and they very nearly kept their unbeaten record all day. However, in one of the last frames of the day, Russell Huxter (the clubs teaching professional) beat Martin on the final black.

The most exciting part of the day was to see the youngsters playing. Their very impressive ability levels kept Martin and Allan alert and the two pros were able to give some great tips to help them develop their skills.

The charity have pledged to support the development of young players – both boys and girls – by raising awareness of the sport. We would love to hear from any of you who follow the charity who are interested in taking up the sport. And please watch this space for more updates on our involvement with the club.

There was a raffle during the day, with prizes kindly donated by Hexagon Consulting, Parrishes of Thaxted, Saffron Snooker Club, Costa Saffron Walden, Gifted of Thaxted, Russell Huxter, Gray Palmer, Baby & Bump and Curves Gym

We would like to thank all those involved in making the day such a success – the professionals, the club, Kevin, Russell and everyone who came along and generously donated towards the charity.
