The 2017 REAL Family Fun Day

Saffron Walden Football Club

Sunday 30th April

The 2017 REAL Family Fun Day is back for its 5th year. And this year, we have some fantastic news for all local families; the event is FREE TO ENTER!

The REAL Charity have decided to make the Fun Day accessible to as many local families and young people as possible. They will happily take charity donations on the door but everyone will be welcomed through the turnstiles!

The event was originally started as a memorial Celebrity and Ex-Professional football match for Ethan Linwood, whose family set up a charity in his memory at the beginning of 2013. Over the years, stars such as Jeff Brazier, Elliot Wright and George Gilbey have come along to play for Ethans All Stars in the main football match. Many of The Only Way Is Essex cast have supported the event and this year should be no different. And many ex professionals, such as Paul Terry, Leo Roget, Stuart Wardle and Jamie Cureton also come along to play in the team

Matt Goullee, who organises the Ethan All Stars for this annual match against a Saffron Walden Legends team, says “I’ve started the Tweeting and Facebook messaging now and already have some fantastic interest. It’s almost impossible to book players up to far in advance as they all have so many other commitments and we mustn’t forget that they give this day up for charity. We shall be keeping the REAL Facebook page up to date with the stars who are playing as and when they confirm.

This annual event has grown in size and stature over the last five years and is now a family day that that many hundreds attend. The afternoon football match is just a part of the day. There is a massive Inflatable Fun Zone that is set up alongside the football club on the Anglo-American Playing Fields and inside the ground, there will be plenty going on to keep all ages interested. As well as the football match, Scotty’s Circus workshop shall be set up and ready to teach all ages how to walk on stilts and spin plates, along with many other Circus attractions.

There will be live music played throughout the day along with dance performances, face painting and balloon modelling. You will also be able to test your football skills with a shooting competition. And to ensure everyone remains fed and watered, there will be cake stalls, sweet stalls, ice cream and candy floss available. On top of that, the football club will be serving burgers and hot dogs and the licensed bar will be open throughout the day.

All monies raised on the day will go to help young people in the Uttlesford area through several different initiatives that REAL operate.

Please come along – you’re guaranteed a fun day out, lots of attractions and you will be supporting a local young people’s charity.
