REALexperience

REALexperience exists to help young people understand their options in terms of life after education, career options and practical experiences that will help them decide where they want their careers to start when they leave education.

We recognise that we can only play a limited part in helping but we feel we can be A part. We are able to make young people aware of specific events and opportunities and give them a chance to attend and learn a little bit more about potential careers.

We work with local and national businesses to arrange “REALexperience events” – where you can come along, look at what the business does, try your hand at some practical tests and see if this could be the future company for you to work for.

A REAL Experience event is like a condensed work experience situation. The idea is to provide an opportunity of seeing a real life working environment and make an informed decision about whether it is an environment they would want to work in. If it isn’t, then at least they have had the opportunity to see it and feel it for themselves. If it is, they have an opportunity to register with the local business so they can keep in contact and be informed about future apprenticeship and job opportunities.

We are looking for local businesses to become REAL Businesses to contact us. First and foremost, we shall want you to put on a REAL Experience days in conjunction with us and to really buy in to the concept of what the purpose of them are. It doesn’t matter how big or small you are, as long as you can potentially help young people with their career ambitions.

You will need to have a passion for helping young people, an active desire to bring them into your business when the opportunity arises and to demonstrate a consistent and structured approach to helping young people learn a trade or a skill and to help them develop themselves in to all they can be.

We want to dovetail with local schools and employers to showcase different business sectors and industries, providing a breadth of information for young people to help them more informed about future career decisions.
